Endear My Heart To Christ My King
Endear my heart to
Christ my King,
Whose triumph silenced Satan’s sting.
Remind my heart through joy and pain
That life is Christ, and death is gain.
What pain can last? Not one endures.
The joy of Christ all sadness cures!
We children led by Christ are bound
To Zion, where no tear is found.
What man would not his fortune give
To dwell where Christ our Lord might live?
Yet glorified, at God’s right hand,
He makes my home in Heaven’s land.
What else deserves? What else compares?
All idols else are sins or snares.
What objects lure my heart from praise,
But fleeting chaff with numbered days?
Set fire my heart to serve your will;
To long for Christ and earn my fill.
O joyous days will bless my sight
If Christ becomes my sole delight.

From The Author:
I was reading through Philippians when I wrote this hymn. The
inspiration for this hymn is largely my exploration of the joy of Christ which
every Christian should be constantly reminded of. I think we as believers can be
caught up in the present instead of focusing on the eternal aspects of our
faith. If what Christ has said is true, and if we truly follow Paul's example,
we should be joyous in life and service to our Lord. Not only should we be
reminded of what we ought to feel, but reminded that whatever pains we endure,
and whatever circumstances we count irrelevant, the Lord is working His will and
purpose to our benefit through it all. The battle for our eternal soul has
already been won, and although we may get easily sidetracked in the
here-and-now, we should be constantly reminding ourselves of the joy we have
inherited, and the love we owe our merciful Lord.
Thank you and God bless,
