The Day God Cried
God looked down upon His Son So righteous in His eyes
He lived His life free from sin He never stole, He never lied God looked down upon His Son How His
heart did ache As in pain Jesus carried the cross To pay for our mistakes God looked down upon His Son
As they spit on His Holy face He watched as they mocked Him Walked Him in the streets in disgrace
God looked down upon His Son As they nailed Him to the cross that day God looked down upon His Son Wanted to take all His pain away
God looked down upon His Son With Love, dignity and pride All the angels gathered round Him That's the day that God cried
God looked down upon His Son Saw the agony He bore He wanted to put His arms around Him Not let Him
suffer anymore God looked down upon His Son As Jesus's blood spilled crimson red Agony from a crown of thorns
They'd placed upon HIs head God looked down upon HIs Son As He suffered and He died The angels
gathered all around Him On the day that God cried © Linda Hill
From The Author:
I am deeply honored to be chosen in the top 10 for my hymn, The Day God Cried. This hymn came to me as I wondered how God felt watching His precious Son die on the cross. I had never heard a hymn explaining the agony God must
have felt when He watched the pain on Jesus' face as He died on the cross for our sins. This hymn only scratches the surface of what God must have felt on that day. In His heart I'm sure He wanted to send His angels down and gather up His Son to Him, to take away Jesus' pain, but
He knew that was not to be. God, in His infinite glory gave the gift of love to a lost world...His only Son. God bless all who read my hymn and I pray it moves your heart and you will understand The Day God Cried.
