His Sovereign Plan
No good can from my heart arise.
At birth, my heart spoke naught but lies.
Without Christ's free redeeming grace
All worldly evils, I'd embrace.
Lord, why was Christ condemned to die
For such a filthy wretch as I?
Why was the blood of Jesus shed
That He should die for me instead?
Deserving Hell, I cannot know
Why Christ should bear such awful woe,
Nor ever shall I understand
God's purpose in His sovereign plan.
I place my trust in Christ alone.
He, on the cross, my sins atoned.
In Jesus' mercy, I shall rest;
For by his sacrifice, I'm blessed.
