From Esau Came a Wicked Man
From Esau came a wicked man,
Great Herod, Satan’s tool.
How could it be within God’s plan
To let this evil rule?
The Magi sought to find the King
To hail him and bow down.
King Herod lied
that he would bring
His praise before the crown.
The Magi left another way
From Herod’s ruthless scorn.
His wrath foretold, the children slay
Did make the mothers mourn.
Great Herod’s plan of death had failed,
In vict’ry Jesus lives.
God’s plan to save the world prevailed,
A life of hope Christ gives.
