Christ's Sovereign Love

Christ rules on high with sovereign love and might,
But those who scorn the righteous he will smite.
To Him the mountains bow and waters part,
And nature sings His wondrous work of art.

He gave his Son, a price beyond all worth,
For sin is staid which haunts us from our birth;
He took on flesh yet still in essence God
And humbly died for us, a road untrod.

Our sin and hate He never will condone;
God’s love is great; there is no greater known.
His joy is like a flowing fountain spring,
His grace a gift from our eternal King.

Oh, who am I, that my sin you would bear?
With your forgiving love none can compare,
For we were blind and lost but now are found,
Let hymns of humble praise forever sound.
